Keynotes to boost  team performance and jump start careers.
(Yes, even you in the back.)

"Communication" may not be what you think it is.

Sure, it's what we write and what we say.

It's also when we say too much, too little, or nothing at all. To the right people. To the wrong people. To everyone. To no one.

One thing is for sure: it is directly connected to your success as an organization and an individual. So we better not leave it to chance.

What does better communication get you? How about reduced misunderstandings, fewer "I thought we already went over that" or "Why are you telling me this?" moments, and less wondering why nobody reads your emails. How about more revenue, more profits, fewer customer complaints, more happy employees.

There's a good chance poor communication is a big reason your project -- or your career -- is stalling before your eyes.

Poor workplace communication costs your company money and could be costing you your credibility and influence.

So let's tackle it together.

I'll tell some funny stories resulting from communication failures. Like the quaint covered bridge that's been hit dozens of times by oversized vehicles, despite ample warnings. And the time I was forced to climb up the side of a moving US Navy battleship on a rope ladder. And the VP who insisted on calling a direct report who was in the middle of giving birth.

And there are the communication successes too. Like the employees who rallied to score a top-five sales day 48 hours after a shocking company announcement. And the plant manager who finally got his facility running on time after learning how to communicate better. And the lesson I learned after almost blowing my chance at a promotion.

I'll provide actionable steps that you and your teams can use right away to communicate better at work and maximize your and your organization's potential.

The Three No. 1 Rules of Communication

"How Was Your Weekend" and Other Things You Should Say to Your CEO

Three key principles to improve productivity, reduce misunderstandings and re-work, and build individuals' credibility and influence. All three are tied for No. 1 because they are all equally important.

"Managing up" doesn't come naturally to many of us. Learn a new perspective, along with some tips, for communicating effectively with senior leaders. Unclog your teams' workflow by opening the lines of communication. Then watch individuals distinguish themselves and get ahead.

We Need to Talk: Leading Difficult Conversations

Dorothy, Toto, and the Key to Great Communication

It's human nature to delay or avoid difficult conversations, but they are necessary. This keynote covers ways to prepare for the conversation, handle it effectively and professionally, and (very important!) follow up in the right way in the right time.

The human brain is wired to respond to stories; we get drawn in, and we can't help it. We can use stories in a business setting to inspire people and drive them to action. This talk covers a simple, four-step storytelling framework -- the same one used in The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, and other classic tales -- that turns the driest of information into a compelling story.

Like, Um, Filler Words and Stuff

We all utter those fillers words: um, ah, like, y'know, and so on. But we don't have to eliminate them completely. They are only a problem when they get in the way. So let's take some of the pressure off by exploring why we use filler words to begin with along with some ways to minimize them without worrying we may blurt one out.

I'm Not Scared to Give This Talk

The fear of public speaking can limit peoples' careers, but it doesn't have to. No one says we should fall in love with speaking in front of a crowd, but there are ways to make it easier. This talk covers methods  to get psyched up for a speech or presentation and then deliver it without breaking a sweat (ok, a little sweat is fine).

Leading Through Change

Change can certainly be daunting. Understanding how people process change can give leaders a leg up in successfully guiding their teams through turbulent times. Also, this talk covers a key cause of conflict during change and how to resolve it. And we'll discuss perhaps the most overlooked part of change leadership: caring for the change managers themselves.
